Selig Enterprises, which owns Suburban Plaza, would like to build a 149,130-square-foot Walmart Supercenter at the shopping center.

Surburban Plaza’s redevelopment will give retailers the opportunity to locate in an underserved, established market – one of the few left in the metro Atlanta market. The site offers a unique situation for retailers with its adjacency to the Dekalb Medical Complex, the City of Decatur and close proximity to Emory University. Proximate residential offers a diverse sampling of single- and multi-family homes and townhomes, apartments and loft-style living. The neighborhoods within the trade area are both well-established and new communities. The population density in 1 mile is 11,103; 3 miles is 107,512. The Emory University & Hospital / CDC Clifton Road campus includes 42,500 students, faculty and staff. Daytime population within 1 mile is 11,610 persons and 95,000+ in 3 miles. The Dekalb Medical Complex averages 112,000 ER visits, 26,000 inpatient visits and 281,000 outpatient visits annually. The Suburban Plaza redevelopment plan will reinvent one of Atlanta’s first suburban shopping centers offering shoppers 293,000+sf of trusted retailers, local favorites, and newer shopping experiences.
